Applying on SmartRecruiters: autofill and statuses
SmartRecruiters application forms open without an account, so you go straight to the form. Here's what Trabalero fills there, what it leaves for you, and what the status words behind your application mean.

SmartRecruiters autofill: what fills, and what's yours for now
On the one posting we measured, Autofill filled 100% of the fields our test profile could answer: first page, one press, AI answers off, nothing submitted. Last tested 22 September 2026. How we test →
What fills from your profile
- Your name, email and phone number.
- Your job titles, companies, schools and degrees, one block for each entry in your profile.
- Your city.
- The From and To dates for each job and course, and "I currently work here" for a job you're still in.
- The description for each job.
- Your CV (résumé) file.
Left for you, unless you choose otherwise
- Consent boxes stay unticked, marked "review manually", unless you turn on Consent boxes in Settings. The form we tested didn't have one.
- Sensitive questions stay blank, marked "answer manually", unless you've chosen to save your own answers in your account settings, and those answers are never sent to AI. The form we tested didn't ask any. Sensitive questions: your call →
- The message to the hiring team. Autofill doesn't fill it from your profile. Write it yourself, or ask for an AI draft and review it.
Fill these by hand for now
- The phone country code. Our choice doesn't register in the code picker yet, so check the dial code before you submit.
- The education description.
- "Office location" and "School location".
- Work history with more than one job. Check each job's title and company before you submit.
- The job description isn't on SmartRecruiters application pages, so AI drafts there can't draw on it.
You press Submit. Autofill never sends an application.
AI drafts it. You review it.
SmartRecruiters application status meanings
Waiting to hear back is hard. Here's what we could confirm from SmartRecruiters itself, and where the rest of the answer lives.
The states behind your application
SmartRecruiters' developer documentation lists the states an application can be in. It's written for developers, not candidates, so the words you see may differ.
| State | What SmartRecruiters' documentation says it means |
|---|---|
| New | The candidate applied. |
| In review | The hiring team is reviewing the candidate. |
| Interview | The hiring team is interviewing the candidate. |
| Offer | The candidate received an offer. |
| Hire | The candidate is hired. |
| Rejected | The candidate is rejected. |
| Withdrawn | The candidate has withdrawn interest. |
| Lead | The candidate is being considered for the job but hasn't applied. |
| Transferred | The candidate has been moved from this job to another. |

The same word can mean different things at different employers. Only your employer can tell you exactly what theirs means.
Seeing "Archived"? It's a common label, but we couldn't find SmartRecruiters or an employer explaining it publicly, so we won't guess. Ask the employer: the recruiter or HR contact on the job posting or in your confirmation email can tell you what their label means.
Keep every status in one place
Trabalero's Applications tracker keeps every application in one list, whatever system it went through:
- applications you submit through the side panel are logged for you;
- you set each status yourself: Saved, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, Rejected or Withdrawn;
- a note holds the employer's exact wording, so it still makes sense next month.
The tracker needs a free account.
